"רדיו אפריקה" של להקת "הרובע הלטיני" (האלבום "זמנים מודרניים", 1985) מתנגן במקצב ובעיבוד רגאיי שמזכירים את הרכב הפופ רגאיי UB40. השיר עוסק עוסק במהות הקשר שבין המערב למדינות אפריקה העצמאיות החדשות הנאבקות בחובות ענק, דיקטטורים, מלחמות אזרחים, רעב ואפרטהייד.
"הרובע הלטיני" הוא הרכב בריטי שנוסד ב-1983 ע"י סטיב סקיית' Steve Skaith  ומייק ג'ונס Mike Jones. הלהקה זכתה לאהדה בארצות צפון אירופה. ההרכב המקורי התפרק ב-1990 והוקם מחדש ב-2011 והוציא אלבום חדש Tilt ב-2014. הצליל של הלהקה הוא תערובת של פופ, רוק, רגאיי ופולק. השירים ברובם פוליטיים.
